Liposomes have numerous uses as biochemical and biophysical tools: as vehicles for the delivery of both water and of oil-soluble materials to the cell; as immunological adjuvants; as substrates for the study of membrane properties such as rotational or translational diffusion in the plane of the membrane; and as intermediates in the construction of bilayers large enough for the study of electrical properties of membranes.

What's the Difference Between a Liposome and a Lysosome?

by Liposomes

I'm pretty sure a liposome is a phospholipid bilayer made into a sphere that carries nutrients/antigens/etc. around the cell, for example to the lysosome. And the lysosome is more like a stomach (it breaks things down). Are there any similarities? What makes up the outside of a lysosome? Is it also a phospholipid bilayer? Tags: [...]
